Cooper's Hawk with Starling by gregster09 Cooper's Hawk with Starling by gregster09
I saw this Cooper's Hawk fly to a tree at the side of the road with prey. I never expected it to stay, but he let me get out of the car, setup my camera and take photos for almost 10 minutes. The starling was still alive, and he was quite occupied trying to secure it.

You can tell that this is a an adult, as the eyes are red.

amazing shot! I've always been a reptile guy but I'm taking an ornithology field class, and I have a new appreciation for wild bird photos...No animals like pictures, but birds are the best at escaping : )

Interesting... I did not know about the change in eye color. Beautiful shot, even if it was a bit grim for the starling.
